Sacraments

The needs of the soul do resemble the needs of the body; for the body must be born, strengthened, nourished, healed in affliction, helped at the hour of death, guided by authority, and given a place in which to dwell. The soul is brought into spiritual life by Baptism, it is strengthened by Confirmation; nourished by the Holy Eucharist; healed by Penance; helped at the hour of our death by Extreme Unction/Anointing; guided by God's ministers thorough the Sacrament of Holy Orders, and is given a body in which to dwell by the Sacrament of Matrimony.

Baptism

Baptism cleanses from original & actual sin and marks us as Christians.  Baptism serves as the first sacrament one receives when entering the Catholic Faith. It is a sacrament of initiation (which you can only receive one time), meaning once you received it, you officially enter into the body of Christ, the Catholic Church. The recipient receives justifying and sanctifying grace when baptized, and the Holy Spirit begins to dwell within them.  Parents are asked to contact the Parish Office to schedule Baptisms.

Baptisms are normally scheduled at 11:30am on the second and third Sunday of the month. Exceptions can be made. New parents are asked to take part in a one session preparation program.

Confirmation

The Sacrament of Confirmation is a two year process beginning in April of 8th grade - May of 10th grade.

First Reconciliation & First Communion

Two (2) full years in our program are required to prepare a child to receive each of the Sacraments (except for Baptism). Regular participation at weekend Mass is required to receive these Sacraments, and each child will be asked to sign a weekly Commitment Book located in the front of the Church (to be explained at the parent meetings).

Anointing of the Sick

Anointing of the gives health and strength to the soul, and sometimes to the body.   Please inform us if you or a family member are sick.

Holy matrimony/holy orders

Couples should contact the Pastor at least 6 months in advance to allow adequate time for the necessary Pre-Marriage Preparation.
